Want to Join the Committee?

So you want to join the committee. Well this is a bold move and we welcome you with open arms. The first thing that you need to be is a full member. If this is you, then all you need to do is get nominated. This is a simple process. Each year, there will be a nomination luncheon or a call for nominations. This is usually around September/October. You just have to fill out an application and get that supported by another member and you are away. On the last Monday in February, we will hold the AGM at which time the nominations will be voted upon. If you are successful, then you will take hold of your position immediately. 

If you are taking over an Executive Position like President or Vice President, then there will be plenty of support with the hand over. You will officially be sworn into office at the Annual Banquet. ALVA Events

Each year ALVA has a number of events. Some of these events are in the yearly calendar like the Banquet and the Christmas Ball. Others happen in the spur of the moment as the need arises, like a specific fundraiser to help someone in the community. Regardless, all of these events are a sight to behold and offer you the opportunity to not only enjoy each others company, but to also help others in the process.

Corporate Support Information

ALVA is a non profit organisation which relies on income from rental properties, functions and the generous support of members and the wider community . This allows us to continue helping many entertainers and other members of the community who unexpectedly find themselves in need of assistance.

Over the years, ALVA has been involved with many supportive businesses. Tony Packard generously donated cars for the Art Union fundraising events, and Darrell Lea was always a major supporter with the late Jason Lea being very much apart of our events. Many businesses in the hospitality industry and the fashion industry have supported us by providing major prizes and auction items and Hardy’s Wines continues to donate champagne every year for our major events, thanks to our Patron Lady Joan Hardy. These donations were usually arranged through the connections made by committee members.

ALVA is always interested in building relationships with businesses and can offer a number of options to enable you to support us in an effective and sustainable way. Matching events with specific businesses, sponsoring Auction items and single fundraisers, and there is also the option to address our members at a number of luncheon fundraisers.

Membership Information

How to Become a New Member.

It is through the support of our Membership through the attendance at our functions and donations that we can carry on all of our Benevolent Work!

Membership requirements:

  • Full Member – Must be or have been an entertainer, or must be currently married to a full time entertainer.  Fees: first year $40, annual renewal $20 (open to females only)
  • Associate Member – these members do not need to be entertainers but they do need have a genuine interest in the entertainment industry. They can be friends and relatives of entertainers. These applicants need to attend ALVA Functions for at least 12 months before applying for membership. Fees: first year $35, annual renewal $15 (open to females only)
  • Life Member – only open to Full members. One time Fee: $200
  • Forty Year Fellowship – this is a yearly donation of $40. It was introduced in our 40th Anniversary Year. It is open to anyone wishing to support this amazing organisation. (open to males and females)

Joining process: To become a member of ALVA, simply fill out a membership form – ALVA membership application form –  and either email to us or send a copy to PO Box 30, Ramsgate NSW 2217. 

Your application will be tabled at the next committee meeting and we will contact you as soon as it has been processed.

Committee Member – Monique Montez

Multiple award winning vocalist Monique Montez has performed in many facets of the entertainment industry, making her a force to be reckoned with. Her captivating stage presence has wowed audiences worldwide, and she has hired and admired by the likes of Sir Richard Branson, Richard Pratt and Baz Luhrmann.

From musical theatre & cabaret, to television & the corporate world, Monique’s career spans over an amazing 23 years. Starring in Saturday Night Fever, We Will Rock You, Dusty The Original Pop Diva, Fiddler On The Roof and Dusty The Concert, she has also supported acts like Hollywood Legend Micky Rooney, Taylor Dane, The Drifters, Tom Burlinson, Human Nature & Sneaky Sound System to name a few.

Her career is dynamic & diverse, with television appearances on All Saints, GMA, Fresh, The Footy show, Kerri Anne, Carols in the Domain & Foxtel’s Channel V. More recently, Monique won the coveted “Female Vocalist of the Year” at the ACE Awards (Australia Club Entertainment).

Monique became a member of ALVA many years ago and in 2017, joined the ALVA committee. She took a small break but is back to help all. We are so excited to have Monique on the Committee.
